Meet the doctor
Mario Carbot, DMD
Dr. Carbot arrived in the United States in 1984 at 13. His family had been traveling to Miami since the Communist takeover of Cuba in 1959. When the family finally settled in Miami, they brought only the clothes in their suitcases because the Communist regime in Cuba had confiscated all their possessions.
At 14, Dr. Carbot began working to help support his family. He mowed lawns with his father on weekends and joined his aunt and father at night to clean offices. At 16, he secured his first official job as a secretary for an export company during the summer. Over the years, he held various roles, including positions at Publix, a medical office as a file clerk, and the Office of Disability, where he translated and conducted phone interviews to gather information about applicants' daily living activities.
In 1989, Dr. Carbot's parents opened a family business, where he worked during his college years. His responsibilities included managing their largest customer, Ocean Bank in Miami, and overseeing the exportation of cars through the Port of Miami and Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale.
Dr. Carbot began his academic journey at Miami Dade College, earning a free tuition scholarship after graduating in the top 10% of his high school class. Planning for dental school, he used a catalog from Nova University School of Dentistry to identify essential courses in basic sciences. By taking these courses as part of his undergraduate curriculum, he gained admission to dental school on his first attempt.
Today, Dr. Carbot is a Heartland Dental dentist at The Dentist Place in Orange Park. He takes great pride in being part of such an esteemed organization and remains committed to delivering exceptional care to his patients.
Experience
Dr. Carbot enhanced his skills further by enrolling in oral surgery and endodontics courses at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. In 2009, he began studying prosthodontics under Dr. Gordon Christensen at Practical Clinical Courses. Over the years, he gained extensive experience in prosthodontics, oral surgery, and endodontics. In December 2020, Dr. Carbot expanded his expertise by studying implant dentistry.
